Project Outputs > Bath Taps into Science

Bath Taps into Science is an annual Science Fair held in Bath that is open to local schools and members of the public. The fair always has lots of exciting activities delivered in the most part by university STEM students. Activities often include: a slime stall; lego robotics; making bubbles; a liquid nitrogen show; maths puzzles; maths buskers; science buskers and more.

As part of the project, Bath students teamed up with UWE students and Institute of Physics recruits to train for, and deliver, the 2011 and 2012 events. Students were encouraged to observe and reflect on the performances of other students involved and to adapt learning to their own situation.

Below is a video capturing the 2011 fair, preceded by comments from local schools:

"The children I took this year were overwhelmed with the range of activities provided. They all came back inspired with science and I know this will hold them in good stead for their individual science fairs."

"The children got the chance to see things not usually possible in the classroom – liquid nitrogen in particular."

"This is a wonderful event which really enriches the learning of all our students. I particularly valued the interactive elements and the international input."
