Lead Institution: Kingswood School
The project will have an on-going impact in the following ways:
1. Through the links developed between the project lead and a range of HEI professionals - The project lead is hopeful that the evidence-base generated through the project's research will encourage other HE professionals to engage in similar CPD opportunities. The research will be promoted to a range of staff development departments to engender buy-in.
2. Continued working with the University of Bath - The changes made to lecture materials through this project will be sustained into the future, benefitting future cohorts of students. The project lead is now well-known to the University and well-placed to take advantage of future collaborative opportunities; he has been given permission by his current employer to continue to work within HEIs to develop the themes identified and explored within the research project.
3. Through the continued existence of FMSP resources - The project has outlined the positive effect that FMSP has had on the preparation of students for undergraduate study, and University departments have now embraced such resources to help support their students through their first year.
4. Through on-going staff development - The project specifically up-skilled a couple of academics at the University of Bath who will benefit from their learning into the future. There are plans to create an INSET course for all academic staff within the mathematics department at the university to raise an awareness amongst lecturers of transitional issues, and to develop a better understanding of maths topics and material to be found within A level maths and Further maths syllabi.
