Subject: Chemistry
Each May, the University of Bristol's ChemLabS department runs several Polymer Chemistry days. Each university-based day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3pm and includes a number of chemistry polymer practicals that students work at for 2.5 hours in the morning. Lab coats and safety glasses are provided.
After a short lunch break, students move to a lecture theatre for three talks. These talks include a lecture on polymer chemistry, another by a postgraduate on an area of their work and an entertaining 'flash-bang' lecture to finish.
A tour of the School of Chemistry can be provided for any school requesting it in advance. This would take place before the start of the day at 9:30. ChemLabS can host up to 100 students per day and frequently join small school groups together.
Year 10 students.
