Subject: Maths
‘Maths at Work’ days were first successfully run by the Further Maths Network. They involve employers delivering hands on workshops to pupils at an event hosted by an HEI. Pupils typically complete four workshops in a day, delivered by four different organisations from different sectors which use maths.
Maths at Work is designed to help pupils understand where maths fits into the world of work. Maths is perceived by some as being an elitist subject and not as the foundation of every aspect of our lives from work to leisure. The days aim to broaden the horizons of young people to the wide variety of careers that are available.
