Diversity > Getting Girls into Engineering: Driving Force

Description

Subject: Engineering

The UKRC (the UK Government's lead organisation for the provision of advice, services and policy consultation regarding the under-representation of women in science, engineering, technology and the built environment), worked in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering to embed gender equality in the development of outreach activities.

The UKRC delivered gender equality training for all partners involved in outreach projects and a checklist and review process to ensure that all work was inclusive. Contracts and service level agreements were used to focus attention on the gender and ethnic mix taking part in activities. These agreements achieved 50% female participation in project clubs and activities.

A practical guide capturing all the learning from the UKRC was produced.

Target Audience

HEI Outreach workers and student ambassadors.
